About the Book: Aura’s life is anything but easy. Her boyfriend, Logan, died, and his slides between ghost and shade have left her reeling. Aura knows he needs her now more than ever. She loves Logan, but she can’t deny her connection with the totally supportive, totally gorgeous Zachary. And she’s not sure that she wants to.

Logan and Zachary will fight to be the one by her side, but Aura needs them both to uncover the mystery of her past—the mystery of the Shift.
As Aura’s search uncovers new truths, she must decide whom to trust with her secrets…and her heart.

My Thoughts: Wow! What a follow up to Shade! I was so glad that I read one right after the other. The ending of Shade would have killed me if I had to wait! I absolutely adored the fact that Shift started by retelling the last bit of Shade but with more detail. It hooked me!

I also loved going back to the characters and reality that Jeri Smith-Ready created in book one. We get to learn so much more about Aura, Logan, and Zachary as well as the events that led up to “the shift.” Relationships develop and past events are explained a bit more. There is still a lot of confusion… about the shift, shades, the past, everything. Poor Aura is caught up in it all. She still longs to know more about her mother, her father, what happened when she was born, the list goes on. Add to that her feelings for both Logan and Zachary (and maybe even someone else!) and you have a very confused girl. Thankfully Jeri Smith-Ready doesn’t lose the story in this confusion. She skillfully navigates the characters through the story in a way that is authentic. I loved watching them grow (especially Logan! Is it weird that the character that grows the most was the ghost?!? I loved it!) This is a fast paced story that kept me involved emotionally and mentally.

I am anxiously awaiting another Shade book! When I closed Shift all I could think was, “What’s next?!?!”

***note: I have a lot more gushing and specific things I loved but they are way spoilery so I won’t put them here! Just trust me…. READ THE BOOKS!!!***

I haven’t read Shift or Shade yet but I keep passing Shade in the bookstore and I never know whether to pick it up or not. But this definitely makes me want to see what everyone’s raving about:)

I read both of these last week and loved them! I’m so excited for Shine now but am disappointed that we have such a long wait.
