John Green Week

If you’ve read my blog before or you follow me on twitter you might know that I’m a bit of a John Green fangirl (and by a bit I of course mean embarrassingly obsessive.) He is without question my very favorite author. Ever. As you can imagine I wanted to do something really awesome to celebrate the upcoming release of his newest book The Fault in Our Stars. Thankfully the lovely Farrah from i. eat. words. is far cooler than I and she set about organizing a “John Green Week” to celebrate his books and TFioS. Ginger from GReads! is uber talented and designed a logo so it is now official! We’ll be celebrating John Green Week from January 3rd to January 10th, 2012. Why am I telling you this now?!? We want YOU to join in too! This is the perfect opportunity to fangirl about his awesome books. If you’ve never read anything by him it’s a great incentive to start! (Also, if you are in group number two, how are we friends?!?!) You can post anything John Green related… book reviews, discussion posts, favorite quotation, character profiles… whatever! I plan to do something to raise money for This Star Won’t Go Out or the fund to decrease world suck.

Books & Stories by John Green:

Miles Halter is fascinated by famous last words and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the “Great Perhaps.” Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young. Clever, funny, screwed-up, and dead sexy, Alaska will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps.
Looking for Alaska brilliantly chronicles the indelible impact one life can have on another. A stunning debut, it marks John Green’s arrival as an important new voice in contemporary fiction.

When it comes to relationships, Colin Singleton’s type is girls named Katherine. And when it comes to girls named Katherine, Colin is always getting dumped. Nineteen times, to be exact. On a road trip miles from home, this anagram-happy, washed-up child prodigy has ten thousand dollars in his pocket, a bloodthirsty feral hog on his trail, and an overweight, Judge Judy-loving best friend riding shotgun but no Katherines. Colin is on a mission to prove The Theorem of Underlying Katherine Predictability, which he hopes will predict the future of any relationship, avenge Dumpees everywhere, and finally win him the girl.Love, friendship, and a dead Austro-Hungarian archduke add up to surprising and heart-changing conclusions in this ingeniously layered comic novel about reinventing oneself by Printz medalist John Green, acclaimed author of Looking for Alaska.

When Margo Roth Spiegelman beckons Quentin Jacobsen in the middle of the night – dressed like a ninja and plotting an ingenious campaign of revenge – he follows her. Margo’s always planned extravagantly, and, until now, she’s always planned solo. After a lifetime of loving Margo from afar, things are finally looking up for Q . . . until day breaks and she has vanished. Always an enigma, Margo has now become a mystery. But there are clues. And they’re for Q. Printz Medalist John Green returns with the trademark brilliant wit and heart-stopping emotional honesty that have inspired a new generation of readers.

One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, two teens—both named Will Grayson—are about to cross paths. As their worlds collide and intertwine, the Will Graysons find their lives going in new and unexpected directions, building toward romantic turns-of-heart and the epic production of history’s most fabulous high school musical.Hilarious, poignant, and deeply insightful, John Green and David Levithan’s collaborative novel is brimming with a double helping of the heart and humor that have won both them both legions of faithful fans.

Sparkling white snowdrifts, beautiful presents wrapped in ribbons, and multicolored lights glittering in the night through the falling snow. A Christmas Eve snowstorm transforms one small town into a romantic haven, the kind you see only in movies. Well, kinda. After all, a cold and wet hike from a stranded train through the middle of nowhere would not normally end with a delicious kiss from a charming stranger. And no one would think that a trip to the Waffle House through four feet of snow would lead to love with an old friend. Or that the way back to true love begins with a painfully early morning shift at Starbucks. Thanks to three of today’s bestselling teen authors—John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle—the magic of the holidays shines on these hilarious and charming interconnected tales of love, romance, and breathtaking kisses.

Prom night. The stress. The dress. The hype. The anticipation.Nothing ever goes the way it’s planned.Whether it’s the girl whose date turns out to be more of a frog than a prince. Or the guy who wants to get up the courage to say “I love you”…to his best friend’s date. Or the girl who decides to plan a backwards prom–a morp–to protest the silliness of a regular prom. Or the girl who wants a picture-perfect movielife prom…no matter what.
