About the Book: After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her… but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead… quickly followed by another.

Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

My Thoughts: This has been the year of me finally getting around to reading fantasy novels everyone told me I should read and then absolutely falling in love with them! First it was Grave Mercy. Then came Poison Study. And now Throne of Glass. Oh Throne of Glass. There is just so much awesome in this book!

Basically, Throne of Glass is made up of everything I love in a fantasy novel. There is the fierce female main character. I mean… she’s a freaking assassin. AND! She survived in what is basically a death camp for way longer than most people would. And then there’s the setting. I love getting to venture to a new kingdom and learn all about the politics, history, and culture! Plus there are all the characters found in a court. In this case I especially love the Crown Price! Throw in the captain of the guard and you get another point of reference for the story. And I haven’t even touched on the danger, mystery, and adventure yet!

I loved following along with the twists and turns of Throne of Glass. I have some very definite theories about what is going to happen and some of the secrets the reader doesn’t know yet (especially in regards to Celaena’s past!) I cannot wait to read Crown of Midnight to find out more!

I know I’m not doing Throne of Glass justice. All of you fantasy fans out there need to pick this one up ASAP. Don’t be like me and deny yourself the pleasure of the story any longer.
