About the Book: It’s a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

A timeless love story, THESE BROKEN STARS sets into motion a sweeping science fiction series of companion novels. The Starbound Trilogy: Three worlds. Three love stories. One enemy.

My Thoughts: I have to be honest, I have this weird thing about “space” books. I don’t know why, but I’m always hesitant to pick them up! Yet typically, when I do, I LOVE THEM! These Broken Stars was no exception. I am so in love with this book! Just, everything about it. The setting, the story, the characters… it all works.

Basically I just want to draw hearts and stars all over this review! Actually, I kind of already did that! Some students and I did some book doodles and the only book on my mind was These Broken Stars! (Note: I am so not artistic!!!!!)

See all the hearts? That’s almost how much I loved this story. ALMOST! Gah. It’s got pretty much everything you could want. Class division, major disaster, thrilling escape, survival, secrets, family drama, a bit of mystery and romance. I could go on. It’s intense and beautiful and twisty-turn-y. Think Titanic… in space… with super interesting characters. As I read it I was also reminded of the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness. So, yeah. That’s a plus! And, and, and dual narration! With these interrogations in between the chapters! ***sigh*** I’m in love.

These Broken Stars is not to be missed! A captivating and gorgeous story that you won’t want to end.

Audiobook Notes: One of my new favorite audiobooks! I loved the multiple narrators. They did an excellent job setting up the story and drawing the listener in. The interrogation bits had the perfect tone. The narrators for Tarver and Lilac did an excellent job with their character as well as voicing the other character in their chapters. I highly (like super duper highly!) recommend it!
