About Me

So, I'm nosey and always want to know more about the people who write the blogs that I frequent. I decided it's kind of stalkeresque to read all the about me pages and not have one myself so here it is!

Me being the geek that I am :)

I am a middle school library media specialist (seventh and eighth grades.) I LOVE my job! How great is it to get paid to read and promote YA lit?!? AND I get to work with middle schoolers. I know that working in a middle school isn't for everyone but it is a HUGE perk for me. I love middle schoolers. They're awkward, overloaded with hormones, and often a bit stinky. Somehow all these traits combine to equal AWESOME! I absolutely love the challenge of trying to find the right books for my students and helping them to learn that even if they don't LOVE reading they can like books :)

I am passionate about YA literature and read anything and everything I can get my hands on. I enjoy most genres. My top three (in no particular order) are historical fiction, realistic fiction, and paranormal fiction. My favorite authors include John Green, Holly Black, Jane Austen, Sarah Rees Brennan, Neil Gaiman, Tamora Pierce, Ally Carter, Suzanne Collins, Kristen Cashore and many, many more.

I have my teaching degree from a University of Wisconsin school (not Madison) and am certified to teach grades one through eight. My minor was in Library Media studies. I am working on my masters and professional license in this. I started a book blog because I love young adult literature and I want to promote the authors who write it and their books. I think that they are an amazing group of people who do amazing things. Many of my favorite authors are not exactly at the middle school level.
